Bloating is a feeling of fullness or tightness in the abdomen caused by excess gas or fluids in the digestive system. Gut health is a common factor for bloating, especially if someone suffers from a medical condition such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). When the digestive system is blocked or working in a sluggish manner, it will not function properly and can result in uncomfortable and often painful symptoms like bloating, painful joints, acid reflux and low energy.

Certain foods can additionally cause bloating, particularly beans and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cabbage. Additionally, carbonated drinks and certain medications can occasionally pose side-effects of bloating too.

What are the symptoms of bloating?

The symptoms of bloating vary from person to person, but most commonly, a person will feel a full or tight feeling in the abdomen which can cause mild to serve pain in this area. Other symptoms include excessive gas or flatulence, nausea, fatigue and changes to bowel movement.
